Mia et Mikael se sont rencontrés il y a trois ans et demi, sur Facebook. Mia vivait dans le nord de la Suède et Mikael à Stockholm, mais leurs chemins se sont croisés et ils ont commencé à s'écrire tous les jours. Ils ont échangé environ 1000 messages avant de se voir en vrai.
Lorsque la rencontre a enfin lieu, Mia raconte qu'elle avait l'impression de rencontrer un vieil ami. 'C'était comme si on se connaissait déjà, même si on n'avait vu que quelques photos sur Facebook', explique-t-elle. Pendant les six premiers mois, Mikael se rend chez Mia en voiture tous les week-ends (12 heures pour faire l'aller-retour). Ensuite, Mia déménage à Stockholm et s'installe chez Mikael.
Lorsqu'ils se mettent à la recherche d'un appartement un an et demi plus tard, le couple décide qu'il veut de l'ancien. 'Nous voulions un vieil immeuble avec du charme et du caractère', raconte Mia. 'Tout devient tellement plus intéressant en vieillissant, y compris les gens.' A Stockholm il y a peu d'immeubles anciens mais finalement ils trouvent un appartement de caractère, avec un poêle à bois ancien, et depuis, ils prennent un plaisir fou à l'aménager.

Mia and Mikael met three and a half years ago, on Facebook. Mia lived in northern Sweden and Mikael in Stockholm, but they stumbled across one another and started writing every day. They had exchanged around 1000 messages before they actually met.
When they finally came face-to-face, Mia says it was like meeting an old friend. 'It was like we already knew each other, even though we had only seen a few pictures on Facebook,' she explains. For the first six months, Mikael drove to see Mia every weekend (a 12 hour round trip) just so that they could spend time together. After that, Mia moved to Stockholm to live with Mikael.
When they started house hunting together a year and a half later, the couple decided that they wanted a property with history. 'We wanted an old house with charm and character,' says Mia. 'Everything becomes more interesting when it ages - even people.' Stockholm doesn't have many old properties, but they eventually found their characterful apartment - complete with a wood-burning stove - and have been making it their own ever since.
