Une maison icône du mouvement moderniste et sa piscine intérieure Connue sous le nom de Old San Juan, cette maison exceptionnelle issue du mouvement moderniste a été conçue par C. Mervyn White, Prentice & Partners en 1936. La maison a fait l'objet d'une rénovation complète en 2011, confiée à CSK architects. Elle est fidèle aux principes du mouvement moderne, avec un plan en Y articulé sur une tour circulaire, et des fenêtres et hublots en bande horizontale". La façade blanche et les lignes descendantes rappellent clairement Le Corbusier, Groupius et le Bauhaus . C'est la mise en lumière et la préservation de ces caractéristiques architecturales qui ont valu à la maison un prix en 2012, pour le travail de rénovation exceptionnel réalisé par CSK Architects. La piscine intérieure donnant sur la cuisine est un ajout des années 80, idéale dans un pays où la météo ne permet pas de se baigner à l'extérieur très longtemps.
Iconic house of the modernist movement and its indoor swimming pool
Known as Old San Juan, this exceptional house, work of the modernist movement, was designed by C. Mervyn White, Prentice & Partners in 1936. The house was completely renovated in 2011 by CSK architects. It is faithful to the principles of modern movement, with a Y-shaped plane articulated on a circular tower, and windows and portholes in a horizontal band. The white facade and the descending lines clearly recall Le Corbusier, Groupius and the Bauhaus. It is the highlighting and preservation of these architectural features that earned the house an award in 2012 for the exceptional renovation work carried out by CSK Architects. The indoor swimming pool overlooking the kitchen is an addition from the 1980s, ideal in a country where the weather does not allow you to swim outside for very long.
