Contemporary and design decoration that respects the past in Eindhoven
Hotel Kazerne in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, is the result of a collaboration between Geurts and Rijnbeek’s design studio Moon/en/co and Van Helmond Architecten to combine an ensemble of old buildings into a single space that embodies two unique visions: one of the past and the other of the future. They have created a place worthy of a museum in a hotel setting by calling on Dutch design personalities such as Maarten Baas, Studio Drift and Studio Formafantasma, Geurts and Rijnbeek. Temporary exhibitions are regularly organized in collaboration with Lidewij Edelkoort or Ilse Crawford. "Unlike any other hotel, Kazerne offers its guests an environment in which they can experience, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the added value that design brings to the world in which we live," explains Geurts about the project's central inspiration. From the 15m² bedroom to the spectacular 140 square metre Penthouse loft, under the preserved old beamed roofs, everyone will find a unique place to stay in the city. Photo: Patrick Meis
