En partenariat avec Mobile Loaves & Fishes, une organisation à but non lucratif basée au Texas, l'imprimerie 3D ICON a réalisé en deux jours, une maison de 45m² à l'allure design indéniable avec ses courbes douces, destinée aux SDF de la ville d'Austin. Décoré par la designer Claire Zinnecker à l'aide de meubles recyclés, elle est le fruit de l'imprimante Vulcan II 3D qui peut produire les structures de base des maisons simples, en demandant une intervention humaine pour ajouter les finitions comme les fenêtres, les portes et la toiture. Ce prototype a été construit pour un un coût de 10.000 $US, soit un peu moins de 10.000 €.

In partnership with Mobile Loaves & Fishes, a non-profit organization based in Texas, 3D printing company ICON created in two days, a 45m² house with an undeniable design look and soft curves, designed for the homeless of the city of Austin. Decorated by designer Claire Zinnecker using recycled furniture, it is the result of the Vulcan II 3D printer that can produce the basic structures of simple houses, requiring human intervention to add finishes such as windows, doors and roof. This prototype was built at a cost of US$10,000, which is just under €10,000.
