Près de la côte du Kent, cette maison à la façade victorienne et à la décoration colorée et charmante, est située à quelques pas de la mer et de la plage de Kingsdown. Rénovée par Atelier Alicart qui a su lui donner une personnalité hors du commun, elle a été construite au 19e siècle dans le style cottage victorien en vogue à son époque. Mais ses espaces ouverts et ses grandes baies vitrées donnant sur le patio et le jardin ont une touche moderne qui la rendent lumineuse. Ce qui a permis de choisir des couleurs sombres et belles pour son intérieur.
Construite à l'origine comme salle de lecture pour les pêcheurs locaux et comme salle de classe pour la paroisse locale, elle se distingue par l'élégance de ses lignes. On y trouve de la pierre d'angle en brique ainsi que des murs en silex typiques des maisons près de la mer. Elle ressemble à n'en pas douter à nos maisons bretonnes, qui ont adopté le même type de matériaux pour leur construction. Des festons habillent cette maison à la façade victorienne et lui donnent un air élégant. Une fois la porte franchie, on découvre un intérieur à la décoration contemporaine et vintage qui a été particulièrement bien pensé pour ce lieu. Depuis la fenêtre de la chambre principale à l'étage, on découvre la plage et quel merveilleux paysage à déguster chaque matin au réveil !
Close to the Kent coast, this Victorian fronted house with its colourful and charming decoration is located a few steps from the sea and the beach of Kingsdown. Renovated by Atelier Alicart to give it a distinctive personality, it was built in the 19th century in the Victorian cottage style popular at the time. But its open spaces and large windows overlooking the patio and garden have a modern touch that makes it bright. This has allowed the choice of dark and beautiful colours for the interior.
Originally built as a reading room for the local fishermen and as a classroom for the local parish, it is distinguished by its elegant lines. It has brick quoins and flint walls typical of houses by the sea. It certainly resembles our Breton houses, which have adopted the same type of materials for their construction. The Victorian facade of the house is decorated with festoons, giving it an elegant look. Once you walk through the door, you discover an interior with a contemporary and vintage decor that has been particularly well thought out for this place. From the window of the master bedroom upstairs, you can see the beach and what a wonderful landscape to wake up to every morning!
