Trois générations vivent harmonieusement dans ce petit appartement de seulement 34m2, c'est à dire cinq personnes, un couple, leur petite fille, et les grands-parents qui viennent régulièrement s'occuper d'elle. Où se situe cette astucieuse petite surface? A Shanghai, la grande ville chinoise, où l'immobilier est excessivement cher, et où les petites surfaces doivent être exploitées au mieux afin de pouvoir accueillir des familles entières de façon confortable.
Les concepteurs de ce petit appartement de seulement 34m2, les architectes de LIMU Design, disent qu'on peut le traverser totalement en treize pas, ce qui a donné au projet le nom de A House Within Thirteen Steps. Il faut regarder le plan en bas de l'article pour voir à quel point la surface a été bien exploitée, et les zones bien définies. Tout cela avec une décoration moderne, l'utilisation du bois, du blanc et du gris pour un effet homogène, dans un immeuble pourtant ancien de la ville. The decor is modern, using wood, white and grey to create a homogenous effect, in a building that is nevertheless one of the city's oldest.
