Une maison en harmonie avec son environnement en Californie
Située au pied de la Sierra Nevada en Californie, Mountain House a été construite en 2008 et est une maison en harmonie avec son environnement. Conçue par le studio d'architecture japonais Atelier Bow-Wow, elle a été installée sur ce terrain bordé sur trois côtés par un parc national. Les architectes ont voulu en faire une véritable œuvre d'art habitable. Elle présente également la caractéristique d'avoir été construite sur une ancienne mine d'or du 19e siècle.
Il a fallu neuf ans pour la concevoir et la bâtir. Elle a une façade très simple, avec une vaste terrasse permettant de dominer son environnement aride. À l’intérieur, c'est le design japonais que l'on retrouve, avec son sol en béton et des murs faits de papier recyclé appelé Homasote. Located at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, Mountain House was built in 2008 in harmony with its surroundings. Designed by the Japanese architecture studio Atelier Bow-Wow, it was installed on a plot of land bordered on three sides by a national park. The architects wanted to turn it into a real work of habitable art. It also has the distinctive feature of having been built on a former 19th-century gold mine.
It took nine years to design and build. It has a very simple façade, with a vast terrace overlooking its arid surroundings. Inside, it's all about Japanese design, with concrete floors and walls made from recycled paper called Homasote.
