Un loft aux beaux volumes sur les quais de Londres

Ce loft aux beaux volumes se trouve dans un ancien entrepôt victorien sur les quais de Londres. Celui-ci était destiné à stocker les blocs de glace transportés de Scandinavie jusqu'en Angleterre par les navires. Baltic Wharf a été construit en 1890 pour la société Larkin and Company, avec des murs très épais afin de conserver la glace plus facilement. En 2006, le bâtiment a été transformé en immeuble résidentiel situé le long d'un canal.

Cet appartement se trouve au premier étage, accessible par un escalier en acier extérieur. Le plan est ouvert et défini par une colonne en acier. Il est éclairé sur toute sa façade par de nombreuses fenêtres orientées au sud, et les zones de la pièce principale peuvent être délimitées par des rideaux suspendus de couleur jaune. Ce coloris se retrouve dans la cuisine, où il vient dynamiser le contreplaqué utilisé pour le mobilier. Le même contreplaqué est utilisé dans la chambre principale. Le sol fait de caoutchouc gris absorbe les chocs et les bruits.

A spacious loft on London's docks

This spacious loft is located in a former Victorian warehouse on London's docks. It was used to store blocks of ice transported from Scandinavia to England by ship. Baltic Wharf was constructed in 1890 for Larkin and Company, with very thick walls to store the ice more easily. In 2006, the building was converted into a residential building located along a canal.

This flat is on the first floor, accessed by an external steel staircase. The floor plan is open and defined by a steel column. The entire facade is lit by numerous south-facing windows, and the areas of the main room can be demarcated by hanging yellow curtains. This colour is also used in the kitchen, where it livens up the plywood used for the furniture. The same plywood is used in the master bedroom. The grey rubber floor absorbs shock and noise.
