C'est sur une grande propriété en Australie, fondée vers 1835 par le premier maire élu de Sydney, John Hosking, que l'on découvre cette maison ancienne vintage et rustique rénovée par ses derniers propriétaires, Edwin et Elizabeth, qui y logent pour les vacances, et accueillent des hôtes lorsqu'ils ne l'occupent pas. Foxlow est composée de plusieurs bâtiments, cette maison est l'un d'entre eux, et les autres sont rénovés au fur et à mesure par ce couple armé de courage et de beaucoup d'amour pour les constructions anciennes.
Cette maison est l'ancienne ferme de la propriété, et la plus grande bâtisse construite sur le terrain. Elle avait déjà bénéficié d'une première rénovation dans les années 1970, dans un style qui ne correspondait plus du tout au goût du jour. L'arrachage des moquettes colorées a révélé un parquet ancien en chêne, la grande cuisine est désormais lumineuse, et l'espace d'origine, très important a été aménagé pour convenir à une maison où les jeunes enfants se sentent à l'aise pour jouer et grandir. La décoration faite de mobilier ancien et d'apports plus contemporain est très réussi et fait de cette maison, un lieu magnifique, accueillant et chaleureux.
On a large property in Australia, founded around 1835 by the first elected mayor of Sydney, John Hosking, we discover this vintage and rustic old house renovated by its last owners, Edwin and Elizabeth, who stay there for the holidays, and welcome guests when they are not occupying it. Foxlow is made up of several buildings, this house being one of them, and the others being renovated as they go along by this couple armed with courage and a great love of old buildings.
This house is the former farmhouse on the estate, and the largest building on the site. It had already undergone its first renovation in the 1970s, in a style that no longer corresponded to today's tastes. The removal of the coloured carpets revealed an old oak parquet floor, the large kitchen is now light and airy, and the original large space has been redesigned to suit a house where young children feel comfortable playing and growing up. The decor, which combines old-fashioned furniture with more contemporary touches, has been a great success, making this a magnificent, warm and welcoming home.
