La designer de mode Sunita Kumar Nair s'est installée dans cet appartement agrandi comme une maison avec jardin à Londres, dans le quartier résidentiel de West Hampstead, après de nombreuses années passées à New York. Le bâtiment où il se trouve est de style victorien, et c'est elle et son mari qui ont décidé de s'adresser à un architecte pour réaliser les travaux de rénovation et d'agrandissement, afin d'avoir le lieu idéal pour vivre.
Occupant la moitié inférieure du bâtiment en briques rouges, il était presque laissé à l'abandon, mais recelait un beau potentiel avec ses hauts plafonds, ses cheminées d'origine, ses fenêtres à guillotine, sa belle luminosité et son grand jardin de ville. Ces éléments ont suffit pour convaincre le couple d'investir ces lieux et de le transformer en appartement en duplex familial, pour lui et leur jeune fils. Après ces lourds travaux de remise à niveaux, et la transformation des espaces, il était temps de décorer cet appartement, et le style naturel et sobre qui désormais sert de fil conducteur dans toutes les pièces, laisse la vedette aux beaux volumes anciens.

The building in which it is located is Victorian in style, and it was she and her husband who decided to commission an architect to carry out the renovation and extension work, in order to create the ideal place to live.
Occupying the lower half of the red brick building, it was almost derelict, but had great potential with its high ceilings, original fireplaces, sash windows, plenty of natural light and large town garden. All these factors were enough to convince the couple to move in and convert it into a duplex family flat for themselves and their young son. After the extensive refurbishment work and the transformation of the space, it was time to decorate the flat, and the natural, sober style that now runs through all the rooms gives pride of place to the beautiful old volumes.
