In New York's East Village, this loft house built in 1860, a former community center, has become the home of contemporary artist Robert Kelly, who lives and works there. One of his architect friends, Nasser Ahari, has transformed it into a perfect studio and residence organized around an atrium, while preserving beautiful traces of the past such as the original cast iron columns and brick walls.
