Floating and design architect's house in China
It was with the help of his friend architect Dong Xinmeng of Balance Design that a Chinese entrepreneur realized his dream of having a floating home, a houseboat inspired by the floating rafts that local fishermen use for their extended work trips. Located off the coast of Dongshan Island, it cost $61,000 to build, and has a surface area of 600 square metres, held in place by 16 metal anchors, each weighing about one tonne. If the owners ever want to move it, all they have to do is lift these anchors and have it towed by a boat to its new location.
