C'est dans un immeuble construit en 1960, un bâtiment en acier et en verre, que ce loft lumineux à New York a été installé pour servir de show-room pour la marque Vitra. Sa large surface vitrée, un véritable mur sur la ville de 20 mètres de large sur 5 mètres de haut, permet au regard d'embrasser le paysage urbain. D'une surface de 582m2, l'appartement est à la fois une salle d'exposition pour le mobilier et les objets édités par Vitra, et des bureaux pour les collaborateurs de la marque, un espace qui se cache derrière un rideau.
Mais il servira également pour des évènements organisés par l'éditeur mondialement connu. Le loft surplombe la porte du pont de Manhattan à Chinatown au 3ème étage de l'immeuble. C'était autrefois un restaurant asiatique. Vitra a repensé l'intérieur pour mettre en valeur son architecture industrielle, privilégiant le concept ouvert et les vues imprenables ainsi que la lumière naturelle. This luminous loft in New York was installed in a steel and glass building built in 1960 to serve as a showroom for the Vitra brand. Its large glass surface, a veritable wall on the city measuring 20 metres wide by 5 metres high, allows the eye to take in the urban landscape. With a surface area of 582m2, the flat is both a showroom for furniture and objects produced by Vitra, and offices for the brand's employees, a space that is hidden behind a curtain.
But it will also be used for events organised by the world-famous designer. The loft overlooks the gateway to the Manhattan Bridge in Chinatown on the 3rd floor of the building. It used to be an Asian restaurant. Vitra redesigned the interior to highlight its industrial architecture, favouring the open concept and unobstructed views as well as natural light.
