Les Milles Roches est une maison contemporaine en pierres sèches en Provence, située sur les monts du Vaucluse à Gordes, dans le Luberon. C'est le peintre Pol Mara et sa femme qui en 1969 ont voulu construire cette maison aux lignes épurées, moderne mais respectant les codes architecturaux de la région, dans la garrigue, à une époque où ce lieu était moins touristique. Ses nouveaux propriétaires, Natalie Millies-Lacroix et Michel Rochereau ont décidé de la rénover dans un style contemporain tout en respectant son âme d'origine, et d'y accueillir des hôtes.
Située sur un terrain fait de terrasses en restanques, entourée d'oliviers, de vignes et de vergers, cette maison contemporaine en pierres sèches typiques de la région, offre une vue magnifique sur le massif du Luberon et ses villages typiques. Trois bâtiments ont été rénovés avec un confort actuel, et accueillent les visiteurs. La rénovation soigneusement menée a conservé l'architecture d'origine, et beaucoup des éléments existants, comme les volets en bois à galandage. Les fenêtres verticales comme des meurtrières donnent une personnalité atypique à cette maison du sud contemporaine, et sa piscine est un havre de paix et de fraîcheur pour les visiteurs bienheureux. Les Milles Roches is a contemporary dry-stone house in Provence, located in the Vaucluse mountains in Gordes, in the Luberon. It was the painter Pol Mara and his wife who, in 1969, wanted to build this house with clean lines, modern but respecting the architectural codes of the region, in the garrigue, at a time when this place was less touristic. Its new owners, Natalie Millies-Lacroix and Michel Rochereau, decided to renovate it in a contemporary style while respecting its original soul, and to welcome guests.
Situated on a plot of land made of terraces, surrounded by olive trees, vineyards and orchards, this contemporary house made of dry stone, typical of the region, offers a magnificent view of the Luberon massif and its typical villages. Three buildings have been renovated with modern comforts, and welcome visitors. The careful renovation has preserved the original architecture, and many of the existing features, such as the wooden shutters. The vertical windows like loopholes give an atypical personality to this contemporary southern house, and its swimming pool is a haven of peace and coolness for happy visitors.
