Conçus par la célèbre architecte Mary Arnold Forster en partenariat avec les propriétaires actuels, cette maison en aluminium noir et son studio séparé sont situés près d'un loch sur l'île de Skye en Ecosse. On aperçoit au loin, émergeant sur la lande, le mont Beinn Sgrialth, le plus haut sommet de cette région écossaise. A l'extérieur, le métal noir ondulé donne une allure saisissante, mais rappelle la façade des maisons traditionnelles écossaises, et à l'intérieur c'est un pin douglas qui habille les espaces. Cette maison innovante a remporté un prix en 2018, et est parue dans de nombreux magazines, et elle est désormais proposée à la vente.
La conception de cette maison en aluminium noir répond aux besoins de laisser entrer la lumière, et de vivre dans de grands volumes chaleureux. Le plan est principalement ouvert, chaque espace étant parfaitement interconnecté avec les autres, pour qu'une circulation naturelle se crée. De grandes baies vitrées sont disposées afin de privilégier les vues sur le paysage sauvage et suivre la course du soleil. Le poêle à bois est un point central naturel pendant les mois les plus froids. Les jardins ont été conçus pour être en accord avec le terrain accidenté de l'Écosse. Ainsi la maison se sent visuellement ancrée dans le paysage environnant.
Designed by the renowned architect Mary Arnold Forster in partnership with the current owners, this black aluminium house and separate studio are located next to a loch on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Emerging from the moor in the distance is Mount Beinn Sgrialth, the highest peak in this part of Scotland. On the outside, the black corrugated metal gives a striking look, but is reminiscent of the facade of traditional Scottish houses, and on the inside it is Douglas fir that dresses the spaces. This innovative house won an award in 2018, and has been featured in many magazines, and is now available for sale.
The design of this black aluminium house meets the need to let in light and to live in large, warm spaces. The plan is mainly open, with each space perfectly interconnected with the others, so that a natural circulation is created. Large windows are arranged to allow views of the wild landscape and to follow the path of the sun. The wood-burning stove is a natural focal point during the colder months. The gardens have been designed to be in keeping with Scotland's rugged terrain. This makes the house feel visually anchored in the surrounding landscape.
