Cette maison contemporaine sur l'eau à Londres, n'est autre qu'une ancienne péniche hollandaise construite dans les années 1950, nommée Bosco, et transformée en un lieu design plein de plantes vertes. Conçue par LAB Architects pour un de ses dirigeants, elle est une parfaite maison lumineuse et bien équipée pour une famille avec ses trois chambres, son vaste espace cuisine salle à manger et son jardin d'hiver sur le pont. La fraicheur alliée à une décoration design réussie, en fait un lieu loin des clichés nautiques que l'on trouve parfois dans ce type de réalisation.
Le réaménagement a été complet, l'ajout de la structure en acier et verre a été décidé afin de créer un salon lumineux donnant une vue sur l'eau et les terrasses. L'espace intérieur est conçu de façon à respecter le rythme des ouvertures, des hublots en laiton déjà existants de la péniche. La décoration avec ses couleurs et son mobilier contemporain, fait de cette péniche, même si elle offre le panorama incroyable sur le fleuve et le quartier ultra-moderne de Battersea, l'allure d'une maison contemporaine sur l'eau plutôt que celle d'un bateau transformé en habitation.
This contemporary house on the water in London is a former Dutch barge built in the 1950s, named Bosco, which has been transformed into a design space full of green plants. Designed by LAB Architects for one of its principals, it is the perfect bright and well-equipped home for a family with three bedrooms, a large kitchen-dining area and a winter garden on the deck. The freshness combined with a successful design decoration, makes it a place far from the nautical clichés that are sometimes found in this type of realization.
The refurbishment was complete, with the addition of the steel and glass structure to create a bright lounge overlooking the water and the terraces. The interior space is designed to respect the rhythm of the openings, the existing brass portholes of the barge. The decoration with its contemporary colours and furniture, makes this barge, even if it offers the incredible panorama on the river and the Battersea ultra-modern district, look like a contemporary house on the water rather than a boat transformed into a house.
