Cette maison du 19e siècle rénovée en style contemporain était celle d'une ancien marchand de vin. Elle se trouve au centre d'une petite ville résidentielle anglaise, Bradford-on-Avon dans le Wiltshire. Ce projet a été réalisé par l'architecte Klas Hyllen qui a su allier ses vieilles racines à des éléments design. Sa surface de plus de 300m2 est répartie sur trois niveaux. Et bien qu'elle se trouve en ville, elle possède un jardin. Les priorités durant cette rénovation ont été non seulement de la rendre habitable et moderne, mais aussi de bénéficier de travaux d'isolation poussés conforme à la norme Passivhaus.
De ce fait, la maison bénéficie d'une température qui reste constante à l'intérieur, fraîche en été, et chaude en hiver. Au cœur de la maison, un escalier moderne suspendu, revêtu de contreplaqué de bouleau, dessert les différents niveaux. C'est un des points focaux de cette rénovation, tout comme les menuiseries en acier noir, qui viennent en contraste avec les vieilles pierres de la façade. Les piliers de fonte, les fenêtres en arche témoignent de son passé de lieu professionnel, et ont été soigneusement préservés et mis en valeur. C'est une rénovation qui a été menée de main de maître.
