Cette maison de vacances en bois sur le lac Pulaski dans le Minnesota est celle d'un couple qui a construit ici dans leur région d'enfance. Jeff qui est à la tête de Murphy & Co, une entreprise d'architecture, et sa femme Jill qui est d'origine scandinave ont choisi pour leur cottage, un style classique faite de poutres sculptées, et de pierres brutes. Sur une falaise à plus de 15 mètres de haut, la maison domine l'eau où ils faisaient du ski nautique lorsqu'ils étaient enfants.
Un attachement profond les relie au lac depuis toujours, et ils voulaient que leurs trois enfants connaissent les mêmes bonheurs simples qu'eux au bord de l'eau. Très attirés par les maisons anciennes scandinaves, ils souhaitaient que leur maison de vacances en bois reflète ce style, mais également rappelle celui des constructions de la région. Les matériaux de construction qu'ils ont utilisé sont donc conformes à ces envies, avec par exemple du bois récupéré dans d'anciennes granges pour les sols. Wooden holiday home on Lake Pulaski
This wooden holiday home on Lake Pulaski in Minnesota was built by a couple in the region where they grew up. Jeff, who runs Murphy & Co, an architecture firm, and his wife Jill, who is of Scandinavian origin, chose a classic style for their cottage, with carved beams and rough stonework. Set on a cliff more than 15 metres high, the house overlooks the water where they used to water-ski as children.
They have always had a deep attachment to the lake, and they wanted their three children to experience the same simple pleasures as they did at the water's edge. Very attracted by old Scandinavian houses, they wanted their wooden holiday home to reflect this style, but also to be reminiscent of the buildings in the region.
