Les propriétaires de cette maison de village à la décoration minimaliste sont Catarina de Almeida Brito et Richard John Seymour qui ont suivi une formation d'architectes puis ont changé de carrière professionnelle, dans l'édition et le cinéma. Mais leur maison dans l'Alentejo au Portugal, nommée Casa do Mercado, reflète leurs premières amours pour l'architecture et la décoration. Cette maison blanche de 138m2 avec deux niveaux, est typique de la région, et ils se sont lancés dans sa rénovation avec enthousiasme.
C'est un style minimaliste qui leur correspond qui a été choisi pour son intérieur. Murs en plâtre, sol en chêne, et peinture blanche sont à la base de l'intérieur de la maison. La palette monochrome est réchauffé par l'apport du bois pour les menuiseries, et pour quelques meubles. Un tapis de Vincent Van Duysen sous la table de salle à manger, une lampe en raphia, viennent ajouter des fibres à l'ensemble de la décoration. The owners of this village house with its minimalist decor are Catarina de Almeida Brito and Richard John Seymour, who trained as architects before moving on to careers in publishing and film. But their house in Portugal's Alentejo region, called Casa do Mercado, reflects their first love of architecture and decor. This white, 138m2, two-storey house is typical of the region, and they embarked on its renovation with great enthusiasm.
A minimalist style that suits them was chosen for the interior. Plaster walls, oak floors and white paint form the basis of the interior. The monochrome palette is warmed up by the use of wood for the joinery and some of the furniture. A rug by Vincent Van Duysen under the dining room table and a raffia lamp add fibre to the overall decor.
