Cette maison moderniste et cylindrique construite à Santa Fe au Nouveau-Mexique, présente une architecture vraiment inhabituelle. C'est le regretté architecte Myron Goldfinger, connu pour ses créations abstraites, qui l'a dessinée et il s'agissait de sa maison de vacances personnelle. Avec une superficie de plus de 200m2,elle se trouve au sommet d'une crête et donne sur le paysage environnant de collines et de pins, ainsi que sur les montagnes de Sangre de Cristo au loin. Malgré une belle surface, elle ne possède qu'une chambre, mais également une mezzanine qui peut servir de zone de couchage additionnelle.
Myron Goldfinger, célèbre pour ses grands bâtiments sculpturaux, considérait sa maison de vacances comme un bâtiment modeste, mais comme l'une de ses plus belles créations. Sans aucun doute, elle est unique avec ses vues panoramiques à couper le souffle sur le paysage rude. Elle s'inscrit parfaitement dans le paysage sans le déparer avec sa façade à la couleur assortie à celle du terrain où elle a été construite. Elle semble avoir toujours été là, comme un bâtiment qui serait né de la terre où elle se trouve.
This modernist, cylindrical house built in Santa Fe, New Mexico, has a truly unusual architecture. It was designed by the late architect Myron Goldfinger, known for his abstract creations, and was his personal holiday home. With a floor area of over 200m2, it sits atop a ridge overlooking the surrounding landscape of hills and pine trees, with the Sangre de Cristo mountains in the distance. Despite its spaciousness, it has only one bedroom, but also a mezzanine which can be used as an additional sleeping area.
Myron Goldfinger, famous for his large sculptural buildings, considered his holiday home to be a modest building, but one of his finest creations. Without doubt, it is unique with its breathtaking panoramic views over the rugged landscape. It blends perfectly into the landscape without detracting from it, with its facade matching the colour of the land on which it was built.
