Cette maison conçue pour deux artistes a été dessinée par le célèbre architecte moderniste portugais Bartolomeu Costa Cabral dans l'Alentejo, une région prisée du Portugal, est à la fois une maison familiale et un atelier pour la création. Dans la campagne vallonée, sa couleur ocre la rend presque invisible. Entourée par les chênes-lièges, elle offre une vue ininterrompue sur les prés et les champs.

On y retrouve la sensibilité de l'architecte. Mise en valeur de la lumière naturelle, choix de matériaux locaux et fonctionnalité intelligente des espaces sont ici au centre du projet. L’extérieur de la maison présente une série de volumes naturels fabriqués en terre battue, une technique traditionnelle du sud du Portugal. La maison est divisée en deux volumes distincts, chacun avec sa propre entrée mais relié par un patio central qui sert d'espace repas extérieur ombragé.

A house designed for two artists in Alentejo

This house for two artists, designed by the famous Portuguese modernist architect Bartolomeu Costa Cabral in Portugal's popular Alentejo region, is both a family home and a creative studio. In the rolling countryside, its ochre colour makes it almost invisible. Surrounded by cork oaks, it offers uninterrupted views over meadows and fields.

The architect's sensitivity is evident here. The use of natural light, the choice of local materials and the intelligent use of space are at the heart of the project. The exterior of the house features a series of natural volumes made of rammed earth, a traditional technique used in southern Portugal. The house is divided into two distinct volumes, each with its own entrance but linked by a central patio that serves as a shaded outdoor dining area.
