La façade ouest en bois noirci présente un style moderne avec un toit plat aux larges avant-toits et une cour couverte. Designed by architect Jacob Down and in part by its owners, travelling photographers and film-makers, this contemporary Cornish stone house is located not far from the sea and the beaches of St Ives. Strikingly modern, the house has been created with meticulous attention to detail and a beautifully uncluttered palette of materials. Spanning more than 330 m2, it makes the most of uninterrupted views over fields and sea.
Situated on the edge of a quiet country lane and hidden from view, the house offers absolute privacy. The west-facing facade of blackened wood is modern in style, defined by a flat roof with deep overhangs and a covered front courtyard. The space has been carefully designed to blend harmoniously with coastal living and to showcase the artwork. Particular attention has been paid to lighting, creating a soft ambience. The walls are rendered in textured lime plaster, and the floors in rough concrete. An imposing fireplace houses a glazed double wood-burning stove, warming both the dining room and the adjoining small sitting room. The large picture windows provide a constant visual connection between inside and outside.
