Dans un ancien bâtiment en pierres, cet appartement design en Italie est un lieu qui marie l'histoire à la modernité. Il a été créé dans un ancien bastion, au centre d’un hameau en Ombrie où vivent 500 habitants. Le bâtiment autrefois mairie puis école maternelle, a été transformé en maison de vacances. Les murs en pierre conservent la mémoire des temps écoulés, tandis que le mobilier introduit une lecture plus contemporaine. Les sols en terre cuite dialoguent avec le bois ancien, présents dans chaque pièce. Les volumes sont simples, presque monastiques. Des luminaires italiens des années 70 ponctuent les espaces. Le salon avec son sol en travertin, s’organise autour d’une cheminée sculpturale. Deux chambres accueillent les habitants, des lieux aux teintes sobres.

À l’extérieur, la terrasse privée prolonge naturellement les pièces de vie vers le paysage italien. Une pergola couverte de jasmin filtre la lumière et crée un espace repas convivial. Plus loin, des chaises longues invitent à regarder la vallée changer de couleur selon les heures de la journée. La vue s’ouvre largement vers Todi, dont la silhouette apparaît à l’horizon. Ce refuge campagnard propose une lecture actuelle de l’architecture rurale italienne, tout en l'adaptant aux usages modernes.

Its stone walls preserve the memory of times gone by, while the furniture introduces a more contemporary feel. The terracotta floors complement the old wood found in every room. The spaces are simple, almost monastic. Italian light fixtures from the 1970s punctuate the rooms. The living room, with its travertine floor, is organised around a sculptural fireplace. Two bedrooms welcome the occupants, with their sober colours.

Outside, the private terrace naturally extends the living areas towards the Italian landscape. A pergola covered with jasmine filters the light and creates a convivial dining area.
