À Eden, aux États-Unis, cette maison de montagne contemporaine et durable est signée par Sparano + Mooney Architecture. Elle revisite l’esprit du kirigami à grande échelle, entre lignes franches, et acier cintré dans un panorama enneigé spectaculaire. Le kirigami est un art japonais du pliage et du découpage du papier, une technique similaire à l'origami, également issu de la tradition est-asiatique. Les volumes s’emboîtent comme un papier travaillé avec précision. L’acier TEKKō enveloppe la structure de la maison. Les façades alternent panneaux pleins et surfaces perforées délicates.
À l’intérieur, le sapin de l’Himalaya dialogue avec le béton poli. Les larges baies cadrent les sommets et inondent les pièces de lumière. Pensée pour la vie intergénérationnelle, la maison intègre un ascenseur discret. La suite parentale peut fonctionner de manière indépendante si besoin. Le chauffage radiant performant répond aux hivers intenses du site. L’isolation renforcée et la toiture à haute performance assurent le confort. Deux batteries Tesla Powerwall prennent le relais en cas de coupure. Les vitrages haute performance limitent les pertes et valorisent l’orientation. In Eden, United States, this contemporary and sustainable mountain home was designed by Sparano + Mooney Architecture. It revisits the spirit of kirigami on a large scale, with clean lines and curved steel set against a spectacular snowy panorama. Kirigami is a Japanese art of folding and cutting paper, a technique similar to origami, also derived from East Asian tradition. The volumes fit together like precisely crafted paper. TEKKō steel envelops the structure of the house. The facades alternate between solid panels and delicate perforated surfaces.
Inside, Himalayan fir wood contrasts with polished concrete. Large windows frame the mountain peaks and flood the rooms with light. Designed for intergenerational living, the house includes a discreet lift. The master bedroom suite can function independently if necessary. The efficient radiant heating system is designed to cope with the harsh winters in the area. Reinforced insulation and a high-performance roof ensure comfort. Two Tesla Powerwall batteries take over in the event of a power cut. High-performance glazing limits heat loss and makes the most of the orientation.
