In this 120m2 flat in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the architecture serves as a unifying theme. The spaces are precisely aligned, creating a pleasant, elongated perspective. The spacious main room is divided into three distinct areas. A dining area, a living room and a study coexist in a cohesive style. Each function finds its place naturally. This layout conveys a sense of order and calm, where nothing seems left to chance.

 

The project explained

The project, named ‘Quiet Elegance’ by its designer, interior architect Bibigul Orazalina of Design for Happy Life, is based on a soft palette, dominated by elegant and timeless neutral tones. Natural materials play a central role, bringing warmth and texture to the whole. Wood, brass and glass intertwine like a well-written score. Contrasts subtly enliven the space, particularly thanks to the dark glass doors. They define the spaces whilst allowing light to flow through.

The kitchen is a meeting point where food preparation and shared moments intersect. The central island’s dimensions have been carefully considered to balance circulation and practicality. Around it, the materials are understated, reinforcing a sense of continuity. The lines remain simple, yet with a clear aesthetic intent. The furniture, mainly sourced from a single brand, brings coherence to the project. Each room seems to interact with the next without creating a visual break.

Another element that catches the eye is the precise attention to circulation and perspective. The openings, particularly the dark-tinted glass doors, create a series of framed views that give rhythm to the exploration of the flat. One moves from one space to the next as if through a series of paintings, each revealing a different detail or atmosphere. This subtle staging lends character to the whole without being overbearing.
