IKEA PS 2026 Collection: 36 new items on the way this May!
The 10th edition of the IKEA PS 2026 collection arrives in May with 36 new pieces in stores and on the website. Discover the first images
Thirty-one years after its very first edition, the IKEA PS 2026 collection is back for its tenth installment, and it’s already clear that the Swedish giant hasn’t taken the easy route. Set to launch on May 14, 2026, the first pieces are already being unveiled right now at Milan Design Week. We’ve obviously taken a close look at everything. In any case, the first three have been revealed (we’ll keep you posted on the rest “ASAP,” as they say!)
If you’re not familiar with PS yet, here’s the gist: it’s IKEA’s most experimental line. It’s the one where designers have carte blanche to push the boundaries of Swedish “functional common sense.” Since 1995, each edition has produced its own classics, such as the sci-fi-style ceiling lamp from 2014, or the colorful metal cabinets from 1999. The 10th edition features 36 pieces, all designed around a simple idea: useful objects that retain a touch of the unexpected.
Maria O’Brian, Creative Director at IKEA, sums up the spirit of the collection in one sentence: embracing simplicity and finding joy in it. Each piece has a specific function, enhanced by expressive details and a confident lightness.
The most impressive piece in this collection? An inflatable armchair designed by Mikael Axelsson. And when we say “impressive,” it’s because this project literally kept the designer busy for decades. Twenty prototypes, tests in every direction—he even tried a tractor tire at one point. The final version rests on two separate, adjustable inner tubes held in place by a chrome tubular frame. The whole thing ships flat, with an emerald green fabric cover and a foot pump. Compact, graphic, and downright clever.
Lex Pott, a Dutch designer, has created a floor lamp capable of swiveling in multiple directions. Pointed one way, it acts as a spotlight. Pointed the other way, it casts a softer ambient light. It’s the kind of piece that truly adapts to the moment’s need, and looks unlike anything else in the usual IKEA catalog.
The third piece presented in Milan? A rocking bench. We don’t know much more about its specifications yet, but visually, it fits into this spirit of offbeat simplicity that defines the entire collection.
These three items are just a taste of what’s to come. The complete PS 2026 collection—36 pieces in total—will be available starting May 14 in stores and on the IKEA website. For a line that comes out every few years, the wait is always worth it. This edition will be no exception.

An inflatable armchair, 20 years in the making
The most impressive piece in this collection? An inflatable armchair designed by Mikael Axelsson. And when we say “impressive,” it’s because this project literally kept the designer busy for decades. A lamp that reinvents itself depending on the angle

And a rocking bench to complete the trio
The third piece presented in Milan? A rocking bench. We don’t know much more about its specifications yet, but visually, it fits into this spirit of offbeat simplicity that defines the entire collection.
