Un petit appartement de 36m2 multifonctions grâce à une cloison coulissante

Ce petit appartement de 36m2 multifonctions a été réalisé par Michael K Chen Architecture et se transforme selon les heures de la journée et les besoins des occupants. Une astucieuse cloison coulissante permet de cacher le lit escamotable en journée, et d'agrandir l'espace bureau et salon télévision. L'écran de celle-ci est pivotant, permettant de la regarder depuis le canapé ou l'espace chambre. L'appartement se trouve dans un immeuble construit au début du XXe siècle dans le quartier de Gramercy Park à Manhattan.

Etant donné la surface de l'appartement, il a été décidé en premier lieu d'abattre toutes les cloisons afin de redistribuer entièrement l'espace. Le sol d'origine a été conservé et remis à neuf. On découvre que grâce à l'ingéniosité des professionnels, le mur coulissant rend ce petit appartement de 36m2 multifonctions, avec des zones qui apparaissent ou se cachent selon les besoins. Small, multifunctional 36m2 flat thanks to a sliding partition

This small 36m2 multifunctional flat was designed by Michael K Chen Architecture and can be transformed according to the time of day and the needs of its occupants. A clever sliding partition hides the Murphy bed during the day and enlarges the office and TV room. The screen can be swivelled to allow viewing from the sofa or the bedroom. The flat is in a building constructed at the beginning of the 20th century in the Gramercy Park district of Manhattan.

Given the size of the flat, the first decision was to demolish all the partitions in order to completely redistribute the space. The original floor was retained and refurbished. We discover that thanks to the ingenuity of the professionals, the sliding wall makes this small 36m2 flat multifunctional, with zones that appear or hide as required. There's nothing missing, not even a desk or a good-sized dressing room. It's an absolutely inspiring place for anyone living in a studio apartment. Photo: Alan Tansey
