This is a postcard vision of a cottage in the Australian countryside, a small brick house for two perched at the top of Pokolbin Mountain in the heart of Australia's Hunter Valley wine region. Formerly an artist's studio, it sits on the same land as its owners' farm. It has been renovated and enjoys magnificent views over a lavender field and the valley.

The house may look old, but it was built in 1990, using reclaimed and recycled materials, which gives it a look of another era. Its rustic chic decor is very warm, and its mini loft-style layout makes it original. The great room features a lounge area with large picture windows opening onto the landscape, the bedroom area and a wood-burning stove. The kitchen is separate, as is the large, comfortable bathroom.
