Quand Diaan et Carlo ont emménagé dans leur maison à étage, tout était blanc. Trop blanc. A la demande de ce couple et du magazine néerlandais VT Wonen, la styliste Fietje Bruijn s'est attelée à la tâche. Elle a transformé cette maison blanche sans âme en un lieu chaleureux par la grâce de la couleur. C'est à Schiedam près de Rotterdam, que se trouve cette maison au bord de l'eau. Elle était lumineuse, avec un plafond à 5m de haut, mais dégageait une ambiance glaciale. L'espace, très vaste, n'avait pas vraiment de cohérence.

La designer est partie d’une base sable clair, douce et enveloppante, déclinée du rez-de-chaussée jusqu’à la mezzanine. Le papier-peint Eijffinger, inspiré du célèbre tableau "Het Puttertje" (Le Chardonneret) de Carel Fabritius, tisse le fil conducteur entre les niveaux.  Une cheminée suspendue au bioéthanol attire l’œil dès l’entrée, ajoutant une touche sculpturale à la pièce. Le tout respire la sérénité et l’équilibre. Le résultat est un lieu apaisant et structuré, où les couleurs chaudes mais assez neutres réchauffent la décoration. A soulless white house transformed by a warm makeover

When Diaan and Carlo moved into their two-storey house, everything was white. Too white. At the request of the couple and Dutch magazine VT Wonen, stylist Fietje Bruijn set to work. She transformed this soulless white house into a warm and welcoming space through the use of colour. This house is located on the waterfront in Schiedam, near Rotterdam. It was bright, with a 5-metre-high ceiling, but had a cold atmosphere. The space was very large and lacked coherence.

The designer started with a light sandy base colour, soft and enveloping, used from the ground floor to the mezzanine. Eijffinger wallpaper, inspired by Carel Fabritius' famous painting ‘Het Puttertje’ (The Goldfinch), weaves a common thread between the levels. A suspended bioethanol fireplace catches the eye as soon as you enter, adding a sculptural touch to the room. The whole space exudes serenity and balance. The result is a soothing and structured space, where warm but fairly neutral colours add warmth to the décor.
