C'est à Saint-Domingue, une ville ancienne de la république Dominicaine dans les Caraïbes que nous faisons un petite escale dans ce chaleureux loft à la décoration ethnique et également un peu industrielle du Fixie Lofts. Cette résidence hôtelière propose à la location pour les vacances, pas moins de sept lofts qui ont accès à un jardin intérieur et une jolie mini piscine privée entre ses vieux murs.
Situé dans un bâtiment ancien datant du XVIe siècle déclaré patrimoine de l'Unesco, il a été rénové par un couple d'Espagnols tombés amoureux de ce lieu tombé en état de décrépitude avancé. Ce chaleureux loft vous propose des vacances dans un endroit intime, bien éloigné des resorts géants "all inclusive" qui parsèment l'île. Il est plutôt destiné à des adeptes du "slow travel", un état d'esprit qui respecte à la fois l'authenticité d'une destination, et un mode de vie plus proche des habitants. Il permet ainsi de mieux comprendre l'âme d'un pays que l'on visite. La pierre, le calcaire, les carreaux de béton faits main, les linteaux en bois d'origine et les sols en béton ont été au coeur de la réflexion de cette rénovation pleine de charme qui offre une expérience unique aux Caraïbes.
It is in Santo Domingo, an old city of the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean, that we make a small stopover in this warm loft with an ethnic and also a little industrial decoration of Fixie Lofts. This hotel residence proposes to rent for holidays, no less than seven lofts which have access to an interior garden and a pretty private swimming pool between its old walls.
Located in an old building dating back to the 16th century and declared a UNESCO heritage site, it was renovated by a Spanish couple who fell in love with this place that had fallen into a state of advanced decay. This cosy loft offers a holiday in an intimate setting, far removed from the giant all-inclusive resorts that dot the island. It is rather intended for followers of "slow travel", a state of mind that respects both the authenticity of a destination and a way of life closer to the inhabitants. It allows you to better understand the soul of the country you are visiting. Stone, limestone, handmade concrete tiles, original wooden lintels and concrete floors have been at the heart of this charming renovation that offers a unique Caribbean experience.
