Cette maison de plus de 300 ans a traversé les siècles et a trouvé aujourd’hui une nouvelle vie grâce à des améliorations contemporaines. Aucune construction récente ne peut rivaliser avec le charme des maisons anciennes du nord espagnol. À Lamadrid on découvre cette demeure ancienne. Baptisée Bonita del Norte (beauté du nord), elle a été acquise en 2022 par la famille Javaloyes, fondatrice de Wishome. Leur ambition était claire, créer une maison de vacances chaleureuse sans trahir l’architecture locale. Les murs en pierres nécessitaient une rénovation complète, tout en conservant l’âme du lieu. Le projet a trouvé son équilibre grâce à l’intervention de la designer Dafne Vijande, attentive aux accords entre les époques.
La rénovation a demandé des choix techniques précis et parfois audacieux pour révéler les volumes existants. Un ancien bloc a été supprimé afin d’agrandir le salon principal. De larges fenêtres ont remplacé les ouvertures d’origine pour faire entrer la lumière naturelle. Un ancien four à pain, découvert lors des travaux, a été conservé comme témoignage du passé. Les murs en pierres s'associent désormais avec le parquet, les fibres naturelles et les poutres récupérées en chêne. La cuisine ouverte, aux tons d’aigue-marine, évoque la mer voisine et accueille un îlot central convivial. À l’étage, les chambres mansardées ont un charme intemporel avec leurs poutres apparentes.
This house, which is over 300 years old, has stood the test of time and has now been given a new lease of life thanks to contemporary improvements. No recent construction can rival the charm of the old houses of northern Spain. In Lamadrid, we discover this ancient residence. Named Bonita del Norte (beauty of the north), it was acquired in 2022 by the Javaloyes family, founders of Wishome. Their ambition was clear: to create a welcoming holiday home without betraying the local architecture. The stone walls needed complete renovation, while preserving the soul of the place. This project found its balance thanks to the intervention of designer Dafne Vijande, who was attentive to the harmony between the different eras.
The renovation required precise and sometimes bold technical choices to reveal the existing volumes. An old block was removed to enlarge the main living room. Large windows replaced the original openings to let in natural light. An old bread oven, discovered during the work, was preserved as a reminder of the past. The stone walls now complement the parquet flooring, natural fibres and reclaimed oak beams. The open-plan kitchen, decorated in aquamarine tones, evokes the nearby sea and features a convivial central island. Upstairs, the attic bedrooms have a timeless charm with their exposed beams.
